You'll get caught.Ī lot of shooters pride themselves on being tactical but none have come as close to it as Far Cry 2. You're not about to stealth through a camp in the middle of the day. You have to think of it like you're a mercenary in real life. And that's one of the things that sets this game apart to me. You often get surprised at how they don't spot you soon when at night. Even with the camo suit - which is quite effective, contrary to popular belief - you can't brazenly stealth your way through a location during the day. The scream a guy lets out will alert everybody to danger. The grass can and will give you away to a patrolling mercenary. You can't really stealth this game like you do in Far Cry 3 which is broken as all hell in my opinion. The game is hyper realistic as far as games go. There aren't many games that can do this. I don't have to tell you that if you've played the game and you see a mission point in the map and you have to drive you feel a sense of dread because the sound of an engine starting will strike fear into your heart. Malaria is a much hated mechanic, the lack of a conventional fast travel system(which there is) is a point that makes many gamers cringe at the game's emphasis on realism, the jamming guns in the heat of battle, the respawning outposts - you name it, gamers reference these mechanics frequently when elucidating why they don't consider Far Cry 2 a good or sometimes great game.īut these faults make the game what it is. 2008's Far Cry 2 is still a divisive title in the Far Cry franchise and rightly so: it does everything in it's power to drive the casual gamer insane.
